Registered business

Official name: Utilitylagoon Co., Ltd.

Established: 2019

Registered office: Office 7, 26 Demo-ro, Cheongju 00000, South Korea

Origin

Utilitylagoon began when our founding practitioner, Hyeon-seok Kim, spent two years as operations lead at a Seoul-based exchange before moving to independent treasury advisory. After assisting three founder teams through chaotic key-holder departures — situations where reserves were secure but inaccessible for weeks — he recognized that the missing piece was never better technology. It was written continuity.

In 2019, Kim registered Utilitylagoon in Cheongju and began producing structured continuity notes for founders who had already moved reserves to cold storage but lacked documentation their boards and successors could follow.

What we do

We interview key holders, review existing records, and produce custody maps, recovery runbooks, and handoff checklists. Our work is documentation and advisory — we do not hold keys, execute transactions, or provide investment guidance.

Working approach

Every engagement starts with understanding your actual custody arrangement, not imposing a template. We write for the person who will need these documents at 2 a.m. during an emergency — usually someone who did not set up the wallets originally.

Sessions are conducted in English. We serve founders in South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, and remote teams across Europe and North America.

Values

  • Clarity over completeness: A one-page emergency sheet beats a hundred-page binder no one reads.
  • Custody privacy: We never request seed phrases, private keys, or wallet balances.
  • Founder succession: Documentation should survive personnel changes without re-interviewing every signer.
